Witney Eco Forum

Witney Eco Forum is an inclusive environmental group.

We meet every month to hear speakers from different climate interest groups; to share ideas and generate actions that will combat the climate and ecological emergencies and wider social injustice issues.

All members of the community, young and old, are welcome at Witney Eco Forum meetings, and are encouraged to work towards mitigating climate change and helping to achieve Net Zero.

Our next event

More than 80 per cent of the world’s population lives under a “lit sky”, and it is getting worse. Light pollution deprives us of the wonders of a starlit night, is bad for our health and does immense damage to wildlife. Nocturnal insects, such as moths, really suffer, with knock-on effects on bats, birds and pollination. There is much we can do to minimise light pollution. The talk will outline the some of the dangers of excessive external lighting and explore practical ways we can reduce it.

February’s speaker is Professor Richard Harding, on Thursday 12 February 2026, at St Mary’s Church on the Green, Witney. The bar opens at 7.00pm and the speaker starts at 7.30pm.

Professor Harding is an environmental campaigner, and the former Director for Climate Science at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, and former Chair of CPRE Oxfordshire.
