Witney Eco Forum
Witney Eco Forum is an inclusive environmental group.
We meet every month to hear speakers from different climate interest groups; to share ideas and generate actions that will combat the climate and ecological emergencies and wider social injustice issues.
All members of the community, young and old, are welcome at Witney Eco Forum meetings, and are encouraged to work towards mitigating climate change and helping to achieve Net Zero.
Our next event
A climate activist’s enforced retreat
Our next speaker is Reverend Tim Hewes, a climate activist, retired dentist and priest, who in his seventies was accused of conspiring to bring the M25 motorway to a standstill. On a quiet Sunday afternoon his home in rural Oxfordshire was raided by eight officers from the territorial of the Metropolitan police. Tim was handcuffed and taken to court from where he was imprisoned on remand for six weeks.
Find out what happened next by coming to the next meeting of the Witney Eco Forum on Thursday 12 June, at St Mary’s church on the Green, Witney. Bar opens at 7.00pm, speaker starts at 7.30pm.
